1. Read Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelson
2. Make annotations in your book for use on the exam.
3. Write a one (1) page handwritten summary of this novel. (See due date above.)

Things to think about as you read:
· Define and explain what the theme of the novel is. Provide specific, concrete evidence (examples) from the novel along with analysis that explains how the examples support the theme.
· Know the order of major events in the novel.
· Recognize the character traits of major characters.
· Explain how the theme of the novel applies to one’s life and draw conclusions about the message the novel teaches universally.
· Be aware of any symbolism that may have been used, how it was used and why.
