Parents,
Independent reading and journals are a large part of a student’s grade, therefore, while students are more than welcome to use my library books at school, they will not be allowed to take them home. Because of this, it is important for students to keep an ongoing list of at least five book choices. They are also responsible for letting parents know ahead of time that a new book will be needed soon. This will give parents and students ample time to check out books at the library or purchase a copy if desired. There should never be a lapse of nightly reading.
Please check to see that your child is reading a minimum of thirty minutes nightly in their independent reading book and logging in his or her journal after reading. Students are to log each night the title of the book they are reading, the page they started and stopped on, and take notes on the story they are reading. Their journals must be brought to class daily.
Thank you
